looking for some good warm hunting bibs or coveralls. what is your recomendations ? need brands and model names and wear to buy them at.

Here is the type of hunting i will be doing
1...I hunt NORTH DAKOTA , WISCONSIN , NORTHERN IL. COLD

2.. hunting will be in the dead of winter. up to 12 inches of snow to wade through, will only be hunting up to 3/4 TO 1 MILE from truck. at 54 just dont get out on the long walks any more.
I MIGHT start hunting in -15 with up to 25 mile winds ( i would not start hunting in these conditions ( 25 mile winds ) but in the Dakota's things can change in a hurry on the wind. )

3.. Will not be using snow shoes. wearing white bunny boots or good felt linner boots.

4... stand time at each location will be no more then 40 minuites.

5.. be nice to use these clothes ice fishing also. wondering if these ice fishing type bibs and coveralls are warm or are they just good for freezing , thawing ice fishing out of a nice ice house ?.

6 not worried about color , will be using white cover ups to cover these hunting clothes.

7. will be using these at night for after work night hunts ( i work 2nd shift ) , would be nice if i could just slide them over my levies after work and go.

I have been leaning towards these black CARHARRT ARCTIC EXTREME BIDS ( $130.00 ) They are a little stiff and take time to break in. also not sure what will happen when pant legs get wet from the snow walking into stand.

What are your recomendations ? thanks. marty

Under Armour base layer with sweatshirt and sweatpants as middle layer and Carhart bibs and my Guide Series waterfowl jacket works for me in MN and ND.

CARHARRT ARCTIC EXTREME BIDS

i used those when i lived in Alaska when it was -40 i was good and warm and as for getting wet if your boots and your base layer are good wettness wont matter because you wont even notice

bibs and coat, better than coveralls. imo, more freedom of movement. and when it's that cold i like my fleece wader pants from cabelas, they offer two different weights, micro fleece or i think 400gram. if it is really really cold, under armors under those.

+1 On the stand hunter extreme parka. Got mine in the bargain cave and it is awesome. Warmest quietest jacket I have ever worn. Have been plenty warm down to zero with a cheap poly long John and a turtle neck. I have some pants that I believe are the wooltimate series and they have been plenty warm also. You will get hot if you walk too far in these just an FYI.

On sale even

The Arctic Extremes are good. They are stiff but they are wind proof. They will work good in the temps you described. If all your wearing is cotton jeans underneath then maybe not. I wear polyester long Johns Oct-April. One thing nice about them is they aren't any noiseier at 50 below than they are at 20 above. Much of the wind and water proof gear out uses a waterproof layer that will break apart inside the garment at 30 below or colder. As noisy as dragging a blue tarp around with you. But they are OK from 10 below and warmer.
The Arctic Extremes by Carhart will last for many years. I've wore mine in Prudhoe when it was 100 below combined. No I wasn't too hot but I got er done.

went coyote hunting last night. man was it cold here in WI.I FROZE.. HA HA. 25 mph wind at least I wore insulated hunting pants heavy hunting coat. not enough. leaning towards the artcic extemes if i can find a 50x28. short legged. thanks for the help guys. marty

When the weather gets bad.I use Rivers West bibs and parka with wool clothes under it. I have sat in tree stands in Wisconsin late season archery in minus 20 weather for long hours dressed like this.

(Sawtooth mountain parka, original heavy bibs)

I wear a polar fleace sleeveless union suit over light weight wicking long sleeve zipfront under wear top and wicking Tee shirt. Top it with a pair of heavey weight wool bibs and cable knit fisherman wool turtle neck. I wear insulated lightweight hunting boots and strapped to my pack is a light weight down jacket and insulated over boots with foot warmers in them. That way I can hike out to the stand and not get overheated and slip on the over boots and jacket when I set up.

A set of breathable coveralls that have full length leg zippers so you can keep cool on the hike works well alos if you can stand coveralls.

I worked in Prudhoe bay also and the artic extreme by carhart are by far the best choice. I wore a pair of sorrel packk boot rated for a 120 below was tieing in a well at 98 below wind chill and was able to tolerate it and still have good mobility.

I wear the cabelas stand hunter extreme when I hit my stands. Hot as [beeep]! Get the balaclava that goes with it. It's all in the bargain cave now!
