The Leap series has both Digital Zoom as well as occular zoom capabilities.
Digital via the right turret knob. It’s stepped in small increments. Not doubling like most. I want to say it’s in 10ths but don’t quote me on that.
The occular zoom is by twisting the occular bell like a variable day scope. It does just zoom you in on the screen. As you zoom with the throw lever it closes in and you’ll lose the outer edges of the display screen. Pictures and video will be at wherever you are with the digital magnification If you’re at base mag and zoom with occular and record it will be recorded at base mag.
I have Leap L3 and it’s solid. I never zoom digitally. The throw lever is just more in line with what I’m used to doing. It’s fast and simple and I don’t really care about pics and video being recorded at base mag.
